TELL YOUR SENATORS – Don’t Cut Essential Health Services for People with Disabilities

The health care debate has moved to the U.S. Senate with the U.S. House passage of its American Health Care Act (AHCA). Tell your Senators to reject cuts to essential health services for individuals with disabilities.

The AHCA is bad for people with disabilities because it:

  • Eliminates $12 billion in attendant care and other supports that help individuals with disabilities live independently (Sec. 111);
  • Caps the amount of federal funds available for Medicaid services and community supports for Medicaid recipients, including individuals with disabilities (Sec. 121); and
  • Weakens national protection around pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits that help individuals with disabilities (Sec. 136).

Individuals with disabilities can’t afford to lose access to these vital Medicaid-funded services and long-term supports. We need your help to stop these health care cuts before they reach the President’s desk. Read Easterseals’ statement(link) on House passage of the American Health Care Act (AHCA).
